Precedent Studies
This is an installation done by AL_A with DuPont Corian called “CORIAN super-surfaces” in April 2009. I like how AL_A used two dimensional strips to create three dimensional surfaces that are dynamic and functional. I also like the reveals between the strips, and how those can be manipulated so that the surfaces appear transparent or opaque. Here is a link to more photos and a video about the installation: http://www2.dupont.com/Milano_Design_Week/en_GB/images/index.html
This is a picture of a wall in the City of Dreams, a resort in Macau, China. I like the effect the undulating panels create, and how the backlighting emphasizes it.
This is a project in Almere (Netherlands) called The Wave, by René van Zuuk. It is interesting how even a basic rectangular element can be oriented differently and lengthened, which creates the dynamic facade. Even though it is an exterior facade, I think the idea could easily be applied to interior elements.
